Earlier this year AOL was good enough to publish an article about my son Harrison and his Defibs 4 BL6 campaign. As part of his EPQ project at BL6, he set out to raise awareness of cardiac risk in young people and also to fundraise for a defibrillator for his school BL6.

To update everyone, due to generous donations from the Yorkshire Building Society & Medicash, he was able to facilitate the purchase of TWO defibrillators for school and have a maintenance fund for their upkeep. This means that Brine Leas/BL6 is now 'Heartsafe' with a total of 3 defibrillators on site.

Harrison is currently on Day 4 of a 7 day sponsored walk along the full length, all 85 miles, of Hadrian's wall. He is carrying his extremely heavy rucksack on is back and camping along the route with his dad, Ken. All money raised from this walk is going to provide FREE cardiac screening events at Brine Leas on November 7th & 8th 2015.

Each day's screening costs £3,500 to host and is carried out by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young. Harrison is walking in memory of Matthew Dewhirst originally from Nantwich, who sadly died at the age of 17 in 2012,the same age Harrison is now, of a cardiac arrest whilst playing rugby at school.

Screenings are available now to book online by going to www.testmyheart.org for young people aged between 14 and 35 years. 12 to 16 apparently fit and healthy young people die every week in the UK of detectable, treatable, cardiac conditions.

Anyone wanting to, can follow Harrison's journey by looking on his Defibs 4 BL6 Facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/defibs4bl6

Anyone that can spare even just £1 can sponsor him via his Virgin Money Giving page and thus help to save the lives of local young people, at
