Hard ARS Walk 23rd September

Connor McIlwrath led four other ramblers over the tops of the Carneddau mountains in Snowdonia. It was a sunny calm Saturday which was a rarity in this period of turbulent weather. Consequently by 10am all available parking was taken. Three of the party found a camp site that would let them in and the other two found themselves two miles from the start and quite a bit below it.

The walk itself was challenging with several sections of scrambling both up and down but once on top the views were totally astounding. You had to stop to look because it was usually essential to see where your feet were going. Looking down had its perks if you spotted the exquisite clumps of mountain flowers dotted about.

Connor managed the day very well. There were several times when calm helpful reassurance and advice was given and gratefully received. This highlighted the important point that only experienced leaders should ever take a group over the high mountains.
