Ralph Warburton has contacted Audlem Online with excellent news about this year's Audlem Music Festival from 25th May to 28th May. He says:

"Following on from my message a few days ago, I have been in earnest discussion with other parties and I am very happy to say that the difficulties may have been overcome and that I will indeed go ahead with a true Music Weekend.

Steve Nash at the Lord Combermere is very keen and has plans for far more free music over the 4 days. Andy and Kate at The Shroppie are very up for the event and Mel & Mark at The Bridge are on board this year.

The Public Hall will hold a young band night on the Saturday 26th featuring Mez Fest with five or six young bands at £5 entry ticket price plus normal bar. ID required for bar use!

Friday 25th May will have Flight 505 Band as top bill with two support bands – very nice blues music – again at only £5 entry price. Again normal bar.

Al Dean is organising lots of the groups for me – and giving a truly great deal as to costs. Free open-air music as before featuring the young Bands will go ahead – as Ian Haughey and Pete Marshall have stepped forward to say they will undertake most of this element. We just need to confirm that we can again place our stage at the Methodist Car Park as before.

All in all, I envisage some 35 plus musical acts performing over the 4 days.

On the question of funds, the Parish Council have indicated that their support will be there for this major event in the Audlem Calendar. I need funds to arrange the programme and to cover the free music acts and will seek help again from ADAS and local businesses who should benefit from increased numbers here. They have supported in the past and hopefully will do so again. I will be asking Muller as well as they are such a major force at the moment in the centre of the Village.

Fees for the Hall will be paid for out of the bar profits generated on Friday and Saturday.

Without the massive input by Al Dean, and the welcome input by Ian and Pete, none of this would be happening! On the actual weekend I will need help in setting up the Hall, the outdoor stage and monitoring all the pubs. Hopefully those who have offered help will carry this out with me. All in all – good news now for this vital village.

Carnival will be the highlight of Monday. We need floats for this – themes could well be 100 years of Scouting and the 60th Anniversary of the wedding of The Queen."
