Ian Haughey reports: "Late... Paddy Chilli Night! Well the 28th is only 11 days after St Paddy's Day, and to be honest some celebrations are still going on in Dublin, so to Audlem Scouts and Guide Hall: an enthusiastic audience turned up on a very busy night in Audlem to an evening that offered a different feel to the previous occasions, in the true spirit of the Chilli events.

"Doors opened at 7.00pm (has to be said that people were in well before then) and the Duffey Boys kicked the themed Irish Chilli night off at 7.30pm with some Irish and loosely connected Irish numbers with Janey Marshall accompanying on fiddle and vocals. "The 'Irish Vaughans' took over with some classic Jigs and reels, what an exceptionally talented family creating a great atmosphere, could almost smell the clover!

"Chilling out for the Chilli, (Paddy's special which was a lovely Irish Stew, Stovies, wonderful Veggi variation and not least Alg provide a hot n spicey bean chilli – Thank you all).

For their first gig as Plus Cafe (ala France) Jack Marshall introduced yet another new band, these five guys all at Uni together in Manchester. They played a set that showed their talent and spectrum of musical genre in a tight and entertaining set.

"Foxy Wellingtons were next up and what a fantastic set this new line up put on, very enthusiastic showing the potential this band has for the future – the introduction of a new female vocal will certainly add a new edge to their developing sound. The support from their growing fan base at last night's gig can only play testament to that.

"Then to round the night off, and slipping back to the origin of the Chilli night, the Hollow Floor stepped up to play out some new and old numbers in preparation for an anticipated busy 09!! Nantwich Jazz and Blues (Malbank on the Sunday) and Audlem Festival in May to name two.

"Again, a well supported event, which the bands and the Chilli crew really appreciated. Also big thanks for all the help given to packing up the hall; it''s what makes this place special. It''s about having a place to play to an audience, and playing what you want, having a good time doing it and the audience having a great family night out, There are some seriously talented people around. It was good."
