Each month, the AudlemOnline team sends a 500-word article about the village to the publishers of the Whitchurch Gossip and Market Drayton Gossip magazines.
These excellent publications are widely (and freely) distributed in North Shropshire and many in Audlem see a copy, particularly of the Whitchurch magazine. Many of our readers, however, are outside their distribution area.
We thought you might like to read what we said about the village this month in the March issues:
With Spring now here – at least some say it starts on 1st March – thoughts in Audlem turn to this year's Festivals.
ASET, the Audlem Special Events Team, have confirmed the date and the bands for this year's Party on the Park. And it's going to be a cracker of a night!
Following on from the success of last year's tribute bands of Sincerely Abba and QEII, ASET knew that they would be hard acts to follow so had to come up with a combination that would keep the party atmosphere going from beginning to end and appeal to the range of audience that comes to the biggest and best night in the Audlem calendar.
So this year sees two bands that are going to get you dancing: The 'Bee Gees Experience' and 'Fake That' who will entertain and wow Audlem on Saturday 6th July. Tickets go on sale both online and at Audlem Post Office on Friday 8th March.... and this year the first 250 Adult tickets will be £10 only! (reduced from £12.50, Children are £6).
Gazebo spots can also be booked from 8th March on a first come first served basis at Audlem Post Office, and as last year, they must be booked with a minimum of 6 Adult Tickets. So spread the word, book your tickets from 8th March- online by clicking here or in person at Audlem Post Office.
At the end of May, it's the Audlem Music and Arts Festival, surely the very best free Festival for many a mile. The village's pubs and halls, and outdoor stages, will be packed with talent to entertain and satisfy a wide range of tastes. Art exhibitions and a return of the very successful Poetry Slam will see Audlem packed over the late May Bank Holiday from May 23rd to 27th. It's Carnival Day too on the 27th.
Before that, starting on March 17th and running for four week, the Canal Art Exhibition at Audlem Mill brings together a huge range of canal art from artists from all over the country.
A new event is being held at the beginning of June, the Audlem Narrow Boat Festival at Overwater Marina. Set in beautiful countryside, the Marina will play host to a weekend of canal-orientated entertainment. As well as driving or walking there, you can include in your visit a trip on Audlem Lass, the 12-passenger boat that plies the canal each weekend and Bank Holiday from Good Friday through to the end of October with all funds raised, after expenses, being donated to the lifeboat charity, the RNLI.
July 28th sees the massive Audlem Festival Transport and on the canal the Historic Boats Gathering which promises to be even bigger this year. The summer Festivals conclude with the Audlem Beer Festival at the end of August.
