It's 24th July today, an important date for many in Audlem who feel strongly about the proposed development by property speculators Gladman who plan to obtain permission to build up to 120 homes at Little Heath.

The deadline for postal comments is now gone but you can still submit comments online to Cheshire East council – but today is your last chance.

You can add your comment by clicking the planning reference number here 13/2224N. This will take you to the page with details of the application where you can click the link 'Comment on this application' (bottom right of page) and the applicant details are filled out for you.

Allow plenty of time after clicking the 'Submit' button.

Many Audlem residents have submitted comments, virtually all of them opposing the plan. Audlem Parish Council also formally opposes the proposal.

The main arguments against raised in comments submitted have been:

  • The scale of the development is far too large
  • The sewerage system in Audlem is already under pressure
  • Audlem Medical Centre has said it will not be able to cope with such a large number of potential new patients
  • Brine Leas school cannot cope with so many new pupils
  • Traffic issues arising from such a large development
  • The development is outside the settlement boundary on what should remain agricultural land.

You can read all the comments posted so far by following the link above to Cheshire East's website and clicking on Plans and Documents. The last page of this section also includes Gladman's proposals and supporting documents.

Gladman Development's proposal will be considered by Cheshire East on 19th August. If the proposal is turned down by the planning committee, Gladman will almost certainly go to appeal, a tactic they are using across the country on numerous sites on greenfield sites by trying to exploit a loophole in current planning law.

This issue was addressed in detail by Councillor Michael Jones, leader of Cheshire East Council, when he attended Audlem Parish Council's meeting last week. You can read what he said by clickinghere.
