Getting dressed is easy, yes?

If this were true why do so many women dislike shopping, find it difficult to choose an outfit for each day let alone a special occasion and why do they spend money on clothes that they rarely or sometimes never wear?

The truth of the matter is that what you wear is not just about the way you look but also about the way you feel and about the person that you are. It is only when you know what suits you perfectly, both inside and out, that you find your personal style and your confidence, an amazing asset that can have a dramatic effect on every area of your life.

As we move through life things change, we work, we have children, our parents may need help or care, we go to the gym or have pets, we might return to work after having children: life changes and evolves constantly and the clothes that you wore in your twenties or thirties may be completely impractical or unsuitable for today and possibly even a little dated. You may have just lost your way a bit and no longer know what your style is and this can really knock your confidence. You may have gained a few extra pounds along the way and perhaps feel a little self-conscious about your body, you then think that the best thing to do is hide in baggy clothes? Wrong! Hiding your shape in baggy outfits can actually make you look bigger than you are actually are. Even if you don't have a defined waist wearing clothes that hide your shape is not necessarily the right thing to do. Your wardrobe needs to support your lifestyle and be current no matter what your age, shape, size or budget and I can help you look and feel fabulous every single day. I can teach you how to shop for your shape not your size, create your own style rather than copying someone else's, how to hide those parts that you want to, and how to highlight your best bits so that you can truly dress with confidence.

The correct shade or tone of a colour worn in the right way to harmonise with your natural colouring can make you look healthier and younger. It is so easy to introduce your best colours and add impact to your existing wardrobe by using accessories, so jewellery or scarves. By learning how to wear and combine colour you will achieve more outfits from the clothes that you already own.

Once you have discovered the types of clothes that you like and the colours that work for you the next step is to decide on the specific styles of clothing that will suit your body shape. It isn't just about the cut, fit or length of an item but the type of fabric is massively important. Understanding how best to dress your body shape makes shopping not only easier but a pleasure. You will know when you select an item whether or not it is likely to suit you before you take it in to the changing room and once you have tried it on you must decide whether this item deserves its place in your wardrobe. Two important things to remember in the changing room though; if it doesn't fit do NOT buy it and secondly if it is in the sale it is NOT a bargain if you never wear it!

A capsule wardrobe is easy to achieve, it is simply a compact collection of garments that can be easily mixed and matched effectively meaning that you buy less and wear more. You may find that you need two capsules for your lifestyle i.e. one for work and one casual but again if you are buying your basic items such as trousers, jackets and dresses in the neutral colours in your palette your capsules will interchange too (your neutral colours will go with all the other colours in your palette as well as with each other). You can introduce the other colours in your palette in the form of tops, dresses and accessories knowing that they will easily team up with your basics in your neutral colours.

Makeup is the most fabulously transformative tool that I know of and a little can go a very long way, less is more especially as we move in to our fifties. The right products applied correctly to the right places can have a dramatic impact. Sometimes it is just a little tweak here and there such as disguising dark circles under eyes or a new shade of lipstick. Once any areas of concern are successfully disguised and some colour is added your confidence and self-esteem increase dramatically. I prescribe the makeup that best suits and enhances your natural colouring and beauty.

I am trained to help you look and be the best of who you are today, after all getting dressed is about so much more than just clothes. This will be the most transformative fashion-related investment you could make. You will become acquainted with your body, your real body, not your idea of it. During a Full Image Consultation you will learn to dress each part of your body according to its shape and scale. We discuss where items of clothing should start and finish, which patterns and colours you can wear where, handbags, shoes, glasses, hairstyles, jewellery and makeup.

I ask you to bring a selection of clothes to show me; some that you like and wear and others that you don't wear but you are not sure why. A consultation is all about you, it isn't invasive, you absolutely will not feel uncomfortable – quite the opposite and you will leave armed with your colour wallet, your personal style guide book and a makeup map depicting your makeup colours and what to put where. You will know how to shop, where to shop, have a very good idea of what you would like to buy in the future and how to put your outfits together.
