Geological History of Cheshire

This month's History Society meeting is about the earth beneath our feet.

We'll be finding out how the Cheshire landscape we know today had been formed by forces acting over millions of years.

Geology also explains the reasons for the deposits of salt and coal that have played such a key part in the region's industrial development.

Looking to the future, we have the exciting possibility of another resource, geo-thermal energy.

To guide us through 'The Evolutionary Geology of Cheshire' our speaker will be Peter Styles, Professor of Applied and Environmental Geophysics at Keele University.

Professor Styles is a past president of the Geological Society who has worked with the British Geological Survey and is author of numerous publications.

It promises to be a fascinating evening. 7.30pm on Thursday, February 19th, Scout and Guide Hall. All are welcome.
