Here's an update on the Gathering of Historic Boats at Audlem which is being held this year on 26/27th July.

With five months to go, we already have another record entry. So far, there are 41 boats booked in.

We can only accommodate about 43 to 44 boats, so if you know of anybody who is thinking of coming to Audlem, please ask them to contact us very quickly! Once we are full, we'll take names and start a reserves list, then contact people if a space occurs.

Once again, we'll have popular canal novelist Geoffrey Lewis at Audlem Mill signing copies of his books (on both days). He tells us that a new novel will be out by then.

Finally, we published about nine months ago the book 'Historic Working Narrow Boats Today' which does what it says – it's a photographic record in nearly 600 photos of 465 boats as they are today (or when recently photographed), with brief notes on each boat.

Canal Boat magazine said "For the working boat spotter, it's an essential reference work", and that the book had been referred to on one of the online forums as "working boat porn"! Not sure if that's good or bad....

It can be ordered from Audlem Mill at sales@audlemmill.co.uk or by telephone on 01270 811059.
