Audlem St James school in the church – 28 children from all years took part led by Karen Vaughan. Rev Helen opened with confirmation of why she had to resign her govenor role due to now also becoming vicar of Wybunbury and Doddington – four schools in all, so a lot of time to be divided!

The Church was adorned by the impressionist art interpreted by the school pupils, which is on view all weekend. Providing the audience with an insight to what musical activities are taking place at Audlem school, Karen Vaughan got the whole audience to join in with the physical and vocal warm up – great fun with Hey Joe! A different version to the normal Festival fayre.

A smaller band due to holidays played Chinese dragon Finley on drums! Followed by Melissa Baxter on flute accompanied by Karen Vaughan showed the quality of the teaching developing the young talent.

At the Bridge Inn, Megan Lee and Lee Bowen kicked events off delivering a great set, the likes of Mr Rock & Roll; A little respect: Wild Horses and a lovely touch from Megan as she delivered some delicate phrasing in Beautiful South's Don't marry her.

Overheard at the bar: "What a fantastic voice, where do you find these people?" "Behind the bar mate, this is Audlem!" came the answer.

Down at the Shroppie Fly the blues raised its first sounds as Whiskeyhead played out their set. They are a Stoke-on-Trent based blues band with a passion for blues from the 1950's, 60's and 70's. Their BB King work was notably good.

Up at the Lord Combermere, Dave Nettleton launched into his set, his awesome delivery of New England is becoming a signature track, a full on performance that was getting rave reviews around the bar, and this morning I'm still hearing what a great set it was!

Back up at the Bridge Jason Johnston with Vikki & The Martin on flute really produced a fantastic set of self penned material to a very appreciative audience. This was one of those sets that really makes the Festival special.

Followed by Mr Cruise ship (in joke!) but worth putting in to print. Nothing to do with the performance, more the look! The performance just blew your socks off, a mix of bongos, sax, guitar and vocals and some great songs will make the performance one of the best seen at the Bridge.

and more to come....
