I grew a couple of acres of sunflowers last season, mainly for their flowers to use at our wedding in September.
After they had finished flowering, I combine harvested them and produced a quantity of seed.
Not being a sufficient quantity to fill the grain dryer meant that I had to air dry them which means they are of low quality due to a little coating of mould. The birds on my bird table here however find them to be more than acceptable!
They are available free of charge from me or The Fat Pigeon to supplement the village's bird tables.
