Footpath Closure -- Holmes Bank to Vicarage Lane

There was a recent comment on Chatbox regarding the temporary closure on this public footpath (FP3) where it crosses the brook.

I checked with Cheshire East's Public Rights of Way Manager and the response was:

"Yes, there is a temporary closure on this path and we keep replacing notices and barriers but they just get taken down. Whilst it's a small structure, the brick arch has failed and this can't be seen from above. The closure is in the process of being extended until such time as the bridge can be confirmed as safe.

The structure was inspected by Cheshire East Highways Structures team who have the expertise in such bridges, and it's on their recommendation that it remains closed. They have been tasked to assess and cost options for its repair.

As yet: design options, any Environment Agency permissions and then funding all need to be in place and we don't as yet have a timeframe for that."
