Tuesday night was the first night of the Shroppie Fly Charity Quiz which has been held on a Tuesday evening since it first started back in the 1980s. As in recent years (since I took on the position of quiz master) we have supported a local charity every year. This year we are again giving all money raised to Audlem First Responders – that wonderful group of local volunteers who are available when we most need their help without having to wait for someone to come all the way from Leighton Hospital.

The first night was a success and woke up the 'grey cells' of all the teams who attended, after our long summer break. We look forward to their continued support and the return of those teams who regularly do not join us until after all the Christmas activities have passed.

We end our short 'season' on Tuesday 27th March with our special Charity Night when we try to raise the amount we have collected up to then by as much as possible. During our short period of fun and fundraising we will have 1100 questions to tease our memories and the final 100 of these will be submitted by the teams themselves so they get the opportunity to show their expertise and imagination, from the other side of the questioning.

All previous and potential quizzers are always welcome to come and join us at The Shroppie Fly on a Tuesday evening at 8.00 pm and help us raise more money for the Audlem First Responders. You are welcome, even if not part of an established team as we can normally introduce you to other people in order to make up a new team.
