Participants to feel the heat at charity firewalk in Audlem

Brave-hearted residents are being challenged to step into the flames to raise money for St Luke's Hospice by signing up to a firewalk which is taking place on Saturday 19th November at The Bridge Inn in Audlem.

It is the first time the challenge, will have been held in the village and Pub landlord, Gary Bellingham, is one of the brave participants to put himself forward for the challenge which will see participants walk on a fire lane made up of red-hot coals.

"It's going to be the first time the majority of us will have done something like this so you could say it's not to be missed and I'm expecting people to come along to laugh at me!" said Gary.

Among the first people to sign up for the challenge was Audlem resident and long standing supporter of St Luke's, Ralph Warburton.

"I think it's going to be a case of mind over matter," said Ralph. "The people of Audlem have big hearts but we're also soft enough to do such a challenge so it will be a fun night regardless and, of course, raising money for such a worthy cause."

Participants will complete a two hour motivational training session then straight after, will walk 15ft barefoot over the red-hot wood embers which are above a scorching 800°F in temperature.

There are still places remaining and participants are asked to pay £25.00 to register and raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship.
