At the recent meeting of the Public Hall Management Committee, members were told that the two film shows on 20th October resulted in a net loss of £185. Unfortunately the evening show clashed with the World Rugby Cup Final between England and South Africa – although perhaps the film would have been the better option!

Despite the large loss, it was agreed that the shows should go on. The next films will be shown on Saturday 17th November. They will be Ratatouille (Cert U) which will start at 4.30 pm and Atonement (Cert 15) commencing at 7.30 pm.

Ratatouille is the latest film from Disney and is an hilarious animated adventure that tells of a Parisian rat who is also a gourmet cook and his friendship with a down-on-his-luck kitchen help. Remy the rat harbours ambitions to become a top-class Parisian chef, despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly anti-rodent profession.

Atonement stars Keira Knightley and James McEvoy as lovers whose relationship is shattered by the onset of Second World War. Set around an imposing Victorian mansion belonging to the well-to-do Tallis family, the film begins in 1935. Young Briony is a would-be writer with a vivid imagination. She's also infatuated with housekeeper's son Robbie Turner, who just so happens to be the lover of her older sister Cecilia.

Tickets are priced at £2.50 for children and £5 for adults and are available from the Post Office.
