Many local residents, as well as numerous passing boaters, have visited George's Pork & Poultry shop down at Lock 15.

The shop sells a massive range of sausages as well as bacon and pork and vegetables, mostly grown locally.

The question is, could this be a contender for the title of England's smallest shop. Audlem Online has investigated and the interior measurements are 5ft 7in x 5ft 8in (170 x 172cm).

Clearly, there are small kiosk shops about the country but it would be interesting to know if anyone can name a detached brick shop of this size or smaller.

A community garden is now being developed around the shop. Danny and Amy George have leased the land around the shop from British Waterways. If anybody fancies growing vegetables etc there, please have a word with Danny.
