This month's talk was given by Carol Coleman, an enthusiastic and talented Free Machine embroiderer specialising in glitzy, tactile jewellery.

Her presentation was entitled The Evolution Of My Own Work, during which she explained what inspires her and how she devises new challenges for herself often using materials as a starting point.

With some superb slides and many examples of her work, it was very interesting to see how her style has developed and evolved.  She also gave indications of new developments for forthcoming projects.

Carol outlined some of the challenges she faces in producing commercial work and staging exhibitions.  She also shared with us the successful and some 'back to the drawing' board projects.  At the end of the meeting she generously allowed members to handle her exquisite brooches, necklaces and garments – an opportunity members relished!

Our next meeting, 20th May, will be "Experimental Textiles" by Jennifer Collier www.jennifercollier.co.uk
