The Vote Poll on whether dogs should be kept on leads on the canal towpath finished this morning. It was a close run poll throughout the five weeks it ran, but ended with those in favour polling 52% of the 340 votes cast, the No's on 47% with 1% Unsure.

As this was part of a consultation process by Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council over their Dog Control Orders, the results will be passed to Audlem Parish Council who respond to consultation exercises on behalf of the local community. This is the second poll in a row that has been very close. The previous one on whether Audlem should become an 'Alcohol Exclusion Zone', was voted against by a majority of just one vote. The new poll on whether Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council should be abolished, as proposed by Cheshire County Council, has now started.
