AudlemOnline was sad to receive this letter from Dek. We wish him all the best in the future and we are sure that everyone would wish to thank him for all his efforts over the years as a Volunteer Leader for the Canal & River Trust at Audlem.

Good afternoon all,

I am writing to thank you and say (with great sadness) a fond farewell by sharing the news that I am leaving Canal & River Trust as a volunteer from mid-September.

As you may know, I started as a volunteer for British Waterways back in July 2010 at Audlem (and accidentally becoming the first Volunteer Lock Ranger) progressing to a Volunteer Leader for Canal & River Trust at Audlem. I have enjoyed the last 6 years of volunteering, meeting fantastic people and giving me great opportunity for my enthusiasm for our canals and rivers to be put to practical, positive use.

I would like to thank you for your support and hope the work and time I have given has left a positive impact to the canals, the Trust and Audlem. I shall miss the great people I have met, the work, the heritage, Audlem and being outdoors enhancing all aspects of my life.

My last day volunteering for the Trust is at Audlem on Saturday the 18th of September, you are welcome to join me for a farewell drink at 1600 hours in the Shroppie Fly on that day, it would be great to see you.

Best wishes and kind regards,
Dek Owen
