Dabbers mascots from Audlem

Two young Audlem boys were two of the three mascots for Nantwich Town last Saturday week when they played MK Dons in their first ever appearance in the FA Cup first round.

Jay Gultekin and Riley Capewell play for the Nantwich Town Eagles under 8's team and they were extremely proud to be selected, together with another 'Eagle', Finlay Tudor of Nantwich, to represent Nantwich on this important day in the Club's history.

On arrival they were taken off on a short Stadium tour where the boys were introduced to the referee and his assistants, were 'locked up' in the stadium police cells, given exclusive access to the tunnel area and had their photograph taken with the Dabbers squad.

Then it was onto the pitch to warm up next to the players where they were determined to show Milton Keynes what they had to offer and didn't disappoint.

It was then time to go back to the tunnel to line up next to the teams. Each boy excitedly took the hand of a player and walked out proudly with them- even applauding the fans at the same time as their 'heroes'.

After observing the Armistice minutes silence impeccably the boys proudly shook hands with each of the MK Dons players before taking their place in front of the Captains, referee and his assistants for the official photo.

All the boys had a brilliant time and when asked for their favourite part of the day it was a unanimous vote for playing on the pitch and walking out with and shaking hands with the players.

To be a part of something as big as the FA Cup, not to mention the history of the game being Nantwich Town's first ever appearance in the first round, was something that all of the mascots, (and parents) will undoubtedly remember for the rest of their lives.
 
If this experience doesn't spur the boys on to a little bit harder training on the cold Tuesday evenings that are upon us then nothing will!
