There was a nasty accident yesterday around noon on the A525 to the east of Audlem between Kettle and Paddock Lanes.

A City Link courier van and a Vauxhall Astra van were involved with both vehicles leaving the road and going through hedges on opposite sides of the road.

Mark Wilding, Dave Bebbington and Allan Fogg were first on the scene and able to help. Fortunately, Allan is a retained fireman at Kidsgrove and has had previous experience of Road Traffic Accidents. He, helped by Dave and Mark, was able to provide much assistance and comfort to those injured until the arrival of the emergency services.

Three ambulances, including, the paramedic's Fast Response Vehicle, the West Midlands air ambulance, four police cars and two fire engines from Audlem and Whitchurch arrived on the scene.

Three people were injured with the driver of the courier van airlifted to hospital with concussion. The Astra driver had leg and rib injuries and the passenger a severe head gash. They were taken by ambulance to hospital.
