I am also shocked by the high cost of the transport to 6th form for post-16 students.

I believed that as pupils were still in full time education they would continue on the same system as under 16 year olds until they were 18 or finished their A levels, as was the case when I attended college.

As Mr Parry has said on AudlemOnline, they are being treated as though they are adults with no discounts for being a student with none or little income (if they are lucky enough to have a part time job)

I have friends who live in Staffordshire and they have a scheme called 'This Is Staffordshire': this scheme is available between the ages of 11 to 19, you apply on line for a free card and as long as your journey starts or ends in Staffordshire and you don't have to change buses the journey is £1.00.

I am wondering why we do not have this concession available in Cheshire.

From what has been said the concession from the school is means tested, so no doubt if parents work they will have to again find the money. I can't understand why the bordering county gets the concessions but we can't.
