Audlem Online is still receiving readers' comments about the ambulance service and last week's meeting, so much so that we are starting a new 'Forum' topic on this subject. But we can't resist one more comment in the 'news' section:

"A recent correspondent suggests that we ought to get in touch with our local MP in connection with the North West Ambulance Service. Readers may wish to know that this was done before the Community Action Meeting. Guess what? No response – even though he is Shadow Minister for Health."

"I have looked at our MP's website and the following statements appear:

My website shows how you can contact me ... and also how to make an appointment to see me at my regular constituency surgeries.

Living in the constituency, I am able to get around the towns, villages and rural areas that make up our constituency all the time as is possible as well as holding my regular surgeries. You can be assured that I shall continue to work relentlessly for the people and interests of Eddisbury.

"Perhaps this problem with the Ambulance Service came too soon after Mr O'Brien's last "regular surgery" in Audlem. I suggest we consult him again and urgently!"

This week's Chronicle carries an extensive report on the Community Action meeting and the steps that will now be taken to ensure the North West Ambulance Service start the training of Community First Responders in emergency situations. Four of Audlem's firefighters volunteered for this role, which was backed by Audlem Parish Council last summer.
