A525 collision

On Friday night, as some of you are maybe aware, there was an accident on the narrow bridge on the A525 going out of the village towards Whitchurch. It involved a lorry and a motor cycle, with the lorry knocking part of the bridge down.

Living down here, I went out to help within minutes and helped control the traffic both ways but what came to me more than anything else was the speed that the traffic coming out of the village was going at – and still in the 30 mph zone!

Standing there became quite frightening and I was glad to see the emergency services arrive. I know there is some very good work going on about the A525 but now would be the time to put the speed signs in better places.

The lorry driver and the young lady on the motor cycle were okay after treatment but it highlights the problems again with over hanging trees and hedges on this section of road going out of the village.
