Christmas Is All Around Us!

The talents and enthusiasm of our younger children have thrilled me this week in their super production of Ffinlo. Their acting, singing and dancing delighted their audiences this week and their performances were filled with lots of delights and reasons to smile. All of the children shone and I know they have thoroughly entertained each audience they have performed to! Well done to them all! Many thanks to all of the staff involved in this performance.

Our Christmas Fair last Friday was a great success. We were delighted Santa could squeeze our school into his hectic schedule to attend our Fair. I believe Mr Warburton helped Santa get to school and ensure he got back to his reindeers and toy preparations so thanks to him as well!! Thank you to Mr & Mrs Grange, of PRG Trailers who again very kindly sponsored the printing of the raffle tickets.

Thanks must also go to our wonderful FASA team who worked tirelessly to make it such a special occasion and to all the families who supported the event. It was a wonderful team effort, which, combined with monies from the Switch On tombola stall raised a fantastic £1402.69 for school.

FASA have had an amazing term raising £2,200 in total through their fundraising activities. This money will be used
to benefit all of the children in school and is a fantastic achievement. We are incredibly lucky to have such a
dedicated team supporting our school with these events.

Our Green Team led our assembly on Monday and told us all about their work on the Conservation Area in Audlem with ADAS as well as their plans to improve our school bug hotel with filled plastic bottles. They modelled how to create a perfect welcoming 'bed' for the bugs and have asked all children in school to try to make a filled bottle for the hotel over the Christmas break – I am sure we will have a 5 star establishment up and running in no time!

The Green Team and Global Ambassadors were in action again last Friday helping Mr Morrey judge the entries for our Dragon's Den challenge. Mr Morrey was really pleased with all the children that presented their designs, they were all very well thought out and it was clear that they had all considered the environment and recycling as well as the practicality and appearance of their products. Some examples were;

  • A giant snowman made from plastic drinks cups and decorated with articles of clothing.
  • Lots of games designed including Ten Pin bowling
  • An original version of noughts and crosses using milk bottle tops
  • A game which involved manoeuvring a marble into yoghurt pots of different values.
  • A Spy platform
  • A Mighty castle made from various old boxes
  • A bird feeder which was beautifully decorated in a festive theme which was made from a plastic bottle with a hole cut out and filled with bird food and a pencil placed through it for the birds to stand on.

The Dragons were all very sensible and had obviously given a lot of thought about the questions to ask with regards to the recycling theme and the originality, practicality and overall appearance of the products. It was a very difficult decision and scores from all Dragons had to be counted to find the overall winners who were:

3rd place – Archie and Harrison Saunders with their Mighty Fort,
2nd place Harry Meadows with his Oil Rig/Spy Platform and
1st place Freya Murfin with her festive bird feeder.

Congratulations to all of the entrants and Dragons for doing such a wonderful job with this project and thank you to Mr Morrey for organising this in school.

Our Year 6 children travelled to Brine Leas on Wednesday to make their own PE bags in the textiles department. They learnt all about materials and their properties as well as a range of new skills including ironing and sewing. Mrs Bird and our two Governors Mags Feest and Tony Dugdale, who accompanied the children on the visit, were impressed with the children's hard work throughout the day. Well done!

Good luck to our KS2 singers who are performing with Audlem Voices tomorrow evening at St James Church, their
rehearsals have sounded wonderful so I think we will be in for a treat! Thank you to Mrs Stoker for organising our
school contributions for this special event.

This week's Praise Book children are:
Mrs Hayward's Class – Miles Weatherstone
Miss Danha's Class – Eesha Thornton Jones
Mrs Richardson's and Mr Morrey's Class – Lexi Bebbington
Mrs Stoker's Class – Kelsie Harthern
Mr Perry's Class – Rai Baxter
Mrs Bird's Class – Max Youle
Congratulations to you all!

Tidy Team -The winning classes this week are Diamond and Ruby classes – well done!
The winners of our Attendance Cup this week are Sapphire and Diamond- well done!
School Dinner Menu – We will be serving week 2 menu next week

Well done to Billy Fellows (Amethyst class), Alesha Wilson (Sapphire class), Riley Capewell (Diamond Class) and
Harriet Weatherstone (Amber class) who were awarded with our Lunchtime Superstar Awards today. These children
have impressed Mrs Hayward, Mrs Jones and all of our Mid-Day Assistants with their wonderful manners, good
appetites and politeness at lunchtimes throughout this half term.

Team Reward
We have counted up the final tallies for our Team Points this term and I am pleased to announce that Lime team have
managed to win overall for Autumn Term. They will have their reward on Tuesday afternoon next week. Please look
out for a note in school bags if your child is in this team.

ABC Childcare
The after- school children have been enjoying practicing their Christmas play at Drama club and the older children
have been helping with ideas for after school club activities. A reminder that ABC opens at 7:45am for breakfast
club for children and closes at 6pm.
ABC are once again working with school to offer a range of after school clubs for children at our school next half
term. The new after school clubs are: Monday: Science club, Tuesday: Food decorating/ tasting, Wednesday: Games,
making games to play, Thursday: Lego club, Friday: Baking different sweets e.g. fudge toffee. These clubs will run
alongside clubs offered by school (a list of these will be sent out when the children return to school after
Christmas).
ABC would like to thank you for your support and hope you have a wonderful time over the festive season.
Christmas Service

A reminder that our end of term Christmas Service will be held in Church on Wednesday 16th December at 9.30am.
Many thanks to the parents and relatives who have already volunteered to walk down to Church with classes. Please
let the School Office know if you can help with this.

Message from the School Office
A polite reminder to all parents and carers to pay for an outstanding dinner and snack monies by Monday next week.
This will enable us to complete the banking and for accurate accounts letters to be sent home. Thank you.

Goodbye and Good Luck
We say farewell to Miss Cooper next week as she leaves our school after over three years working in our office. I am
sure you will join with me in thanking her for her hard work during her time at our school and wishing her all the very
best.

Bug Busting!
I would like to remind parents of the importance of maintaining regular combing with a 'nit' comb to help detect any
lice at an early stage so preventing the spread to other children and family members. As we have highlighted via
previous communications regarding this issue, we urge parents to inform school as soon as possible should they detect
their child/ren has headlice so we can immediately send out letters to classmates.
Prevention and early detection is key to combating this problem and regular combing is advised both by our School
Nurse and Cheshire East Public Health team as the best way to deal with head lice, as some chemical solutions can
cause scalp irritations. Thank you for your support with this matter. Head Lice are in all schools and we will never
eradicate them entirely, however, to start our new term off well, I would again ask all parents and carers to find time
for 'Bug Busting' during the break and ensure that they check their child's hair before we return to school.

Build Work
We recently successfully bid for funding to extend our hall so we can improve storage and space. Building work for
this project is due to begin after the Christmas break and will continue until Easter. Please be aware that this will
affect the parking space directly outside the hall and this area will be out of bounds during the build work. Thank you
for your patience during these works.

Finally
This will be my last newsletter before our Christmas break. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all
of the support you have given to school and myself during this term.
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. I look forward to welcoming you back
to school on Tuesday 5th January.
R Jewitt
