Everyone at Cheshire Constabulary is continuing to come terms with the devastating events that took place in London (on Wednesday).

We now know that a number of people have lost their lives in the incident 'including one of our police colleagues'with many more seriously injured. Our thoughts continue to be very much with all those affected by this terrible, senseless incident and we stand united with our colleagues across the country in continuing to prevent and combat these acts of terror.

I want to reassure you that, while there is no information to suggest there is a specific threat to Cheshire, we are doing everything in our power to ensure nothing like this occurs here.

Over the coming days, you will see more officers on our streets.

Please do not be alarmed by this 'they are there to provide a visible presence and to reassure you that, although this incident took place on the other side of the country, we are remaining as vigilant as possible.

I'd ask you again to be vigilant yourselves and report any concerns immediately, either via the confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789321 or, in an emergency, dial 999.
