The chatbox and politics

AudlemOnline has, in the past, had a rule not allowing political comment and Brexit opinion onto chatbox, in order to avoid creating division within the community. Now the key manifestoes have been published, we think this rule should be relaxed – at least in the run up to the election.

AudlemOnline wishes to maintain its absolutely neutral stance about these issues and we know that some readers prefer a "politics-free" zone they can peruse while eating their morning cornflakes, but it seems fair to give it a try while the topic in general is so important and immediate.

So

we will henceforth accept and publish chatbox items about politics, the election, Brexit etc for the time being, always assuming that the code of conduct for chatbox items is adhered to.

Specifically, this includes

  • No bad language
  • No racist comment
  • No personal comments about other chatbox contributors (anonymous or otherwise)
  • No personal comment about local people

We suggest that contributors use their real name in any such submissions so that we know that it is a genuine contribution to the debate
