Cardiac Risk in the Young

Readers may remember the free cardiac screenings that took place last month at Brine Leas (see here for the original article).

The charity Cardiac Risk in the Young undertook the screenings of 214 young hearts from our local area. Of those screened, 3 young people found to have Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a potentially fatal condition that they knew nothing about.

This is a condition that can be completely cured, and these 3 young people are now under the care of a cardiologist and receiving treatment.

Fundraising will continue in conjunction with the local branch of CRY, CRY for Matthew, and Mr Cliffe has already said that he is pleased to offer Brine Leas school as a venue for more free cardiac screenings next year.
