Last week the Canal & River Trust team of volunteers at Audlem completed some much needed tidying and de-weeding in the wharf area in front of the Shroppie Fly, which included trimming of foliage around the services area.

It is the intention over the winter months to complete the whole area from the Bridge to Lock 13.

We are hoping to be working with ADAS (Audlem District Amenities Society) volunteers too, in the area in front of the Mill, so that the canal hopefully can match the rest of the village in attaining its 'in bloom' status.

Also, we recently completed the refurbishment of the former mason's and blacksmith's workshops at lock 10, and lock hut and lock 4, along with repairing and painting fences at lock 10 and revealing heritage brick paving.

Please see the attached photographs of this much needed work completed.

Over the winter months and into early next season we plan to further enhance the canal environment in Audlem, which includes planting spring bulbs, more towpath clearing and refurbishment/tidying/improvement of the work yard next to the Mill.
