This month the Audlem group of C&RT Volunteers met outside of the Shroppie Fly Pub on the wharf.

Jim Stretch a Group Team Leader and full time employee with the Canal & River Trust (Jim lives in Audlem) led this months task force programme of work.

This allowed us to load our equipment straight out of the back of the C&RT van into the work boat to enable the group to carry out some work that has been in the volunteers programme for some time. Cutting back undergrowth on the off side of the canal from lock 11 up to lock 7.

The Audlem Team would like to thank Jim for his local canal knowledge and boat handling skills in placing the boat to make our job easier.

Again, yet another important and rewarding task has been achieved, also it gives an insight into the various work the volunteer task team are involved in.

From 'Lock Keeping duties through to painting, towpath maintenance and general Lock Ranger duties' as always another important job covered.

Hot drinks and sandwiches were supplied for the team, 'very welcome.'

Meet and Greet Day Leads to New Volunteers...

As an update to this week, the Meet and Greet day in Audlem organised by Neville Preece of the Canal & River Trust has given the group 3 new volunteers.

The C&RT induction process is now in place and when completed you will see 3 new faces in and around the Audlem flight of locks.

Also, for information, the Audlem volunteers were invited this week to a thank you event in the C&RT Ellesmere Port Museum, where two members of the team were presented with 'Pin badges' in recognition of their recorded volunteering hours.
