A friendly neighbour has informed me that there has recently been discussion about Burleydam Workhouse.
This was situated where currently no's 1, 2, 3 and 4 Lodmore Lane are now, and on some old maps of Cheshire it was marked as either workhouse or poor house.
When we moved in to no.4 approx 20 years ago we tried to find out history about the workhouse to no avail, although on our property deeds they show the the workhouse used to belong to the Combermere Estate, and was sold by them just after the First World War.
Has anyone any other useful information?
