Brine Leas School, attended by the majority of Audlem pupils aged 11 to 16, has achieved its best ever GCSE results, with a record breaking 80% of students gaining 5 A*-C. The school accomplished an exceptional 76% 5 A*-C including English and Maths.

An unparalleled 33% of all grades were A's and A*'s. "Students and staff have worked incredibly hard to attain these results and were backed up by very supportive families", said Headteacher Andrew Cliffe.

There were individual success stories covering the whole ability range and in particular many students in English, Mathematics and Science succeeded beyond their highest expectations. All core subjects exceeded 78% A*-C. Modern Languages achieved a remarkable 72% A*-C which is 20% above the national average.

Other headlines include 67 students who have scored above 580 points (equivalent to 10 A*'s). 121 students gained 10 or more high grades (A*-C), of which 8 students achieved 15 or more.

98% of all students obtained 5 or more GCSE passes and every student gained at least 1 GCSE pass. An unprecedented 101 students from years 9 and 10 sat GCSE examinations early. A number of these students achieved 3 GCSE high grade passes.

Brine Leas School Sixth Form opens in September 2010.
