Just in case you missed last night's report, this is what we said about The Big Switch On immediately after the event.

We now include more photos sent in by Derek Jones and Gary Suggate. And there's more photographs to come:

"Audlem was packed tonight for The Big Switch On. Only three years since the event began, it has very much caught the imagination of young and old alike.

The children of St James' School arrived in the Square to enjoy the celebrations and see the switching on of the thousands of lights on the Big Tree in the Square while the young footballers of Audlem Hammers sang carols.

The Sponsors of the Big Tree, Louisa & Martin Balaam and their children, threw the switch to light up the big tree while the providers of the tree from their plantation, Graham and Angela Allinson, were on hand too.

The crowds were massive by the canal as they awaited the arrival of Santa. Candles, in aid of the RNLI, floated in the water while an illuminated 'duck' entertained all on a lovely, crisp winter's night.

Audlem Lass, fully illuminated and with Santa safely on board, arrived to loud cheers before he disembarked at the Wharf. He made his way with large numbers of followers of all ages towards his Grotto in the village centre where a long queue, with their Christmas wish-lists to hand, awaited.

Even normally unemotional adults were saying what a magical sight it was by the canal as Santa floated by in style, a fitting centrepiece to another great Audlem event organised by ADAS, FASA, Audlem Traders and the Audlem Lass team.

All the traders of the village were open on the night with lots of attractions and games while live music was to follow in the Lord Combermere."
