BEWARE – sewage in the Brook again

I had a phone call this morning from a friend concerning sewage flowing through the brook in Turnpike Field, resulting in a significant odour and sightings of toilet paper.

Went and inspected the manhole cover by the brook next to the canal and there does appear to be a significant leak again. The stream is crystal clear above the leak but very murky below it all the way down to Green Lane.

I have reported this to the Environment Agency and am told that United Utilities are on the way, in the meantime please avoid the brook and don't allow children and dogs to paddle in it.
