The Dorothy Clive Garden will be hosting an educational family based 'Beetle Mania' trail around the garden throughout the school summer holidays inspired by children's book 'Beetle Boy' written by M.G. Leonard who recently appeared on Springwatch Unsprung: (click here) and who recently won the Branford Boase Award for outstanding first novel 'Beetle Boy'.
The trail is free of charge and will start on Monday 24th July and will be available for families to take part in every day over the summer holidays from 10am to 5:30pm daily. The trail aims to educate families and other visitors about Beetles, other insects, and wildlife that lives within the 12 acre hillside garden, and is part of the charities ongoing commitment to promoting horticultural education and environmental sustainability.
Families will be invited to explore the garden guided by the trail which will journey through the woodland quarry and garden, following the story of the Beetle Boy. There will be Beetle identification sheets and also a display of sample Beetles donated by PHD entomologist, Fran Sconce, from Harper Adams University Entomology department. Families will be asked to collect items along the trail and then make their own beetle to take home.
Beetle Mania is a fantastic opportunity for families to engage with wildlife as well as learning specifically about beetles, other insects and the nature that lives within the garden.
