Today (Saturday 27 Jan) over 500 Sealed Knot Troops will descend on the market town of Nantwich in South Cheshire.

The Battle reenactment commemorates and celebrates the 1644 battle between the Parliamentarians and the Royalists when the Siege of Nantwich was lifted as part of the English Civil War.

Prior to the Battle, which takes place on Mill Island at 2pm, visitors can enjoy music and entertainment from local performers in St Mary's Church Nantwich from 10- 12.30pm, this is a change of venue due to the forecast rain in the morning.

The Nantwich Museum will have Pike and Muscat displays along with music of the period and tours of the town from 10am.

The parade of troops will leave Malbank School on Welsh Row and parade into town ready for the wreath laying service at 1pm.

For information visit here or find it on Facebook.

The battle is run by a small team of volunteers. It costs just £2 for adults and £1 for children to enter the battlefield.
