It's become one of the highlights of the Audlem calendar and the most glamorous by far. Last night's Valentines Ball in the Public Hall was a splendid affair as around a hundred romantics celebrated in style and danced the night away. The Hall had been magnificently dressed for the night, and so too were the patrons. Even in these politically correct days, it has to be said, the girls looked gorgeous. And the men? Well, simply magnificent!

After a superb dinner featuring soup, gammon and Cumberland sauce and a choice of puds – and notably efficient service by a young local team – it was dancing to the hugely entertaining California Blue with their choice of classics, largely from the sixties. They even managed to slip in a subtle plug for the Public Hall's most recent new endeavour with the Drifter's Saturday Night At The Movies. (See Calendar of Events for the next showing – Miss Potter and Charlotte's Web on 24th March)

With a successful raffle, an extremely well patronised bar and other fundraising activities, we understand the evening will have raised a substantial sum to help with the on-going work in the hall. Congratulations to the Public Hall committee for organising such a successful evening.
