AudlemOnline's 9th birthday

Yesterday was AudlemOnline' ninth birthday. We celebrated quietly but next year our 10th anniversary will doubtless entail weeks, possibly months of retrospectives, repeats and praise from all quarters modelled on BBC Match of the Day's current celebrations.

So far, we have published 11,491 news stories – well, 11,492 if you count this one which many may see as a non-news story. That works out at almost exactly 3.5 stories a day.

Over the years, readership has climbed from about 1,000 clicking on in the first month to a record 74,879 last month, July 2014

We hope we are not tempting fate, but so far we have not missed at least one story on each of the 3,288 days we have been on-line.

AudlemOnline emerged out of the 2005 Parish Plan when 83% of respondents to the questionnaire said they wanted a village website. Whether what they asked for is what they got, we leave to your imagination.
