The Turnpike Field Committee, supported of course by the Parish Council, are proposing a new Zip wire to be built down Turnpike Field.

It will start close to the gate on Whitchurch Road, conveniently close to the new Car Park, and will go down the hill , cross over the Brook at a height of twenty feet and then the impetus will take passengers right up the other side to where they get off at the steps to Lock 11.

It is estimated that the maximum speed as it crosses the Brook will be about 73mph.

This will make it the second longest and fastest free-running Zip wire in Northern Europe.

One obvious advantage is that during snowy periods in the Winter, it will also serve as a ski-lift, and it is expected that the Parish Council will start selling season-long ski-lift passes for about £220 (reduction for children and Old Age pensioners) from May this year.

Audlem First Responders are already looking for new volunteers in anticipation of a greatly increased demand for their services when the Audlem ski-ing season gets into full swing.

Our Artist's impression gives some idea of the spectacular views that will be seen when zipping.
