Over the past two days, Audlem Online has covered the difficulties that seem to be facing Audlem St James' Primary School. That coverage included the letter sent to parents and carers by the current chair of Governors and the response from the Local Authority.

Today, we have received the following statement from three ex-Governors:

"As former Chair of the Governing Body (GB) at Audlem St James School, I would like to confirm that the GB were informed of the possibility of an Interim Executive Board (IEB) with the reasons clearly stated by the Local Authority (LA) and the Diocese as to why this action was to be taken

"I, as Chair and a number of other parent and community governors fully supported the LA and Dioceses' recommendation of an IEB when this was proposed. This is an opportunity for the school to be led by a group of experienced experts in the educational field with a level of involvement from governors. The IEB would continue to drive the school forward at the pace that is required and in the best interests for the children. Unfortunately this view was not shared by the majority of the GB which lead to my resignation from the GB along with a number of other governors.

"With the high level of personnel turnover in the GB (16 in the last 18mths) of time commitment and educational knowledge currently required by the GB at this present time, an IEB would bring stability and expertise and would be much better placed to drive this school forward, rather than a divided group of volunteers."
