Unusual weather for this event! For the last three years, the annual Audlem Ramblers barbecue has been held in rather cold and wet conditions. For two of these years, we attempted to hold picnics at the cricket club.
Although the weather was "suitable" to play cricket, it was most certainly far too cold and rainy and windy for the picnickers!
The 3rd years event was held on Turnpike Field – the marquees were essential to shield from the rain!
This year, we needed shelter from the sun!
A super BBQ providing roast pork (from Oxtail & Trotters of course!), and an array of nibbles, salads and puddings brought in by many members.
The walk around market Drayton was about 6 miles and in glorious sunshine, ably led by Kate Down and Peter Kay. A well trodden route from the Swimming Pool past the Golf Course, across to Old Colehurst Manor (now a private house), and back past the Buntingdale area, and finally along the river Tern and return to start.
