St Luke's Hospice would like to thank the hundreds of people who supported their month-long fundraising campaign, Love St Luke's, after it boosted its income by over £18,000.

From holding buckets, to selling cakes, to knitting hearts to wearing something red, schools, businesses and the local community showed St Luke's a lot of love throughout February by getting involved in various fundraising activities.

The Hospice continues to face financial challenges so one of the main objectives of the campaign was to remind people that they are here and that, as a charity, they rely on the kind donations and fundraising activities to continue providing their services to people who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and to support their families.

Volunteers Vital for Fundraising

In Audlem, volunteers took part in bucket collections over two days which raised an incredible £533. Meanwhile local businesses and schools helped the cause by Going Red for a Bed; all together they raised over £3,500. Staff also donated bags of clothing which will be sold in St Luke's charity shops.

The Hospice's Lottery, its biggest source of fundraising income, has also seen a significant increase in members; at only £1 a week players can be in with a chance of winning £1,500 plus one of 58 other cash prizes. 60 new players joined during February which is worth over £3,000 a year to the Hospice.

The campaign certainly galvanised local support with one volunteer commenting: "I've had a lot of support, and still do, from St Luke's since being treated for breast cancer almost four years ago, so I am always happy to help."

Hundreds Helped Thanks to Local Support

Angela Slack, Community Partnerships Manager, said: "We are there for hundreds of local people and their families every year who are going through the toughest of times, and this support is only made possible thanks to the donations we receive so we are truly grateful for all the support the campaign received and hope it will continue in the coming months."

There are lots of ways you can show your support to St Luke's all year round. From dedicating some time to help as a volunteer, to shopping in one of their charity shops, to playing St Luke's Lottery for only £1 a week; any support you give will help Hospice nurses provide local care.
