Report of APC Council Meeting 9th January 2023

15 January 2023

Following are some of the matters discussed at the Audlem Parish Council Meeting on 9th January. A full report will be available in the next week or so when the full minutes are issued:-

1. Members of the Public present asking for information about the Council's allegedly fraudulent bank transactions were advised that the Police investigation is continuing, the Clerk has submitted an insurance claim and a formal complaint to the Financial Ombudsman regarding the bank's apparently poor administration of the council's bank account.

2. Four new members were formally co-opted and welcomed as APC Councillors:-
Kate Down, Steve Elliott, Chris May, Adriana Roscoe.
This is a short-term co-option (as all council members are up for re-election in May).

3. Geoff Seddon was nominated and unanimously elected as Vice-Chairman.

4. It was confirmed that the precept request for 2023-24 (agreed at the December meeting) has been Formally notified to Cheshire East. Details can be found at Audlem Parish Council Precept 2023/24, by clicking here.
In practice the majority of properties in Audlem are band E which is increasing by £1.60 per week for this year only, as it is anticipated the precept will revert to previous levels the following financial year.

5. Following the resignation of the permanent clerk on 31st January 2022, a qualified and experienced interim locum clerk was contracted to support the Council during this very difficult time. Interviews for a permanent part time Parish Clerk are in progress with the intention to appoint as soon as possible

6. An application to the Police Community Cashback Fund to improve the Turnpike Field Green Lane entrance was approved for submission. It is being supported by our Community Police Support Officer as a means of alleviating parking problems as well as potentially improving safety for vehicles and pedestrians.

7. Alterations to the Audlem Medical Practice and effect on Public Car park – the Parish Council will write to Cheshire East requesting that parking be allowed outside the marked parking bays during this period.
