The September edition of Cheshire Life includes an article titled 'In awe of Audlem' and features three watercolour paintings by Gordon Wilkinson.

One is of the Shroppie Fly and Audlem Wharf from roughly the same position as Ken Maple's photograph pictured here.

The others are of the Audlem flight of locks and a smaller painting of St James' church.

Gordon Wilkinson's paintings are for sale by contacting him on 01244 531785 or by email at watercolours@gordonwilkinson.com

The accompanying article describes the village as "a rare example of untouched country life. The leafy abode emits classic English character, boasting a medieval church and rustic canal."

Later, the article says: "Described as one of the most attractive places to visit in lowland England, the towpath is particularly beautiful in spring, when flowers can be found growing along the edge."

Cheshire Life is now on sale at Williams' newsagents, priced £3.45.
