Picture this – the bells of St James' ringing out across the village, signalling the start of four unforgettable days of music, art, theatre, and pure, unfiltered joy. That's Audlem in May -- and this year, the legendary Audlem Music & Arts Festival is turning 25. Like a fine Cheshire cheese, it only gets better with age.
Whether you're a blues aficionado, indie addict, jazz junkie or just love a good knees-up, this free festival has something for everyone. Over 55 bands and performers, seven buzzing venues, local art exhibitions, theatre galore, and even the odd barbershop quartet popping up when you least expect it.
From ska to soul, Cajun to country, and folk to full-blown rock anthems, it's a musical pick 'n' mix where you don't have to choose -- you can have it all. Fancy some drama? Audlem Theatre Company will have you chuckling, clapping, and possibly joining in. Need a recharge? The pubs will be shifting pints like they're going out of fashion, which knowing Audlem they never will, the food will be delicious, and the atmosphere electric.
And here's a cheer (and possibly a standing ovation) for The Shires Energy Hub. Not only are they powering homes sustainably, but they're also powering the party by building the festival stages for free! Yes, free. Not all heroes wear capes -- some arrive with power tools, ladders and a love of live music.
This isn't just a festival -- it's a community celebration. Powered by volunteers, supported by local businesses, and loved by every last dancing villager and toe-tapping visitor. Audlem throws open its arms and says, 'Welcome. Let's party.'
So grab your friends, your Nan, your neighbour and even your dog (if they can handle a bit of ska) and head to Audlem this May 23-26th. It's the biggest little festival in Cheshire -- and we promise, it'll be the most fun you've had with your wellies on.......or maybe not?!
