As the last date for online comments on the Gladman2 proposals expires Audlem medics repeat their opposition to the scheme.
In a letter to Cheshire East, doctors at Audlem Medical Practice restate their warning that they will be forced to close their books to new patients if there is a sharp rise in village residents.
The comments are objecting to a duplicate plans lodged by Gladman Developments to build up to 120 houses on land near Little Heath.
The duplicate application was lodged when Gladman went to appeal on their original proposals on the grounds of non determination by Cheshire East within the statutory 13 weeks.
Audlem doctors warn that the addition of 120 homes in the village will have serious implications for NHS patient care in Audlem and urge Cheshire Eat to refuse the application on the grounds of insufficient health facilities.
The letter warns: "Any additional housing will mean an increase in population which we will not be able to accommodate. We will be left with no other option than to 'close our list', i.e. not take on ANY new patients at all."
"This will therefore adversely affect both residents of the new development and any other newborn children, residents at the local nursing homes and anyone moving into an existing property."
The patient list at Audlem Medical Practice currently stands at 4,500 shared between an equivalent 2.3 full-time partners. This equates to 1,956 patients for each doctor against the national average of 1,600.
Closing the Audlem patient list will cause a "significant problem" for the NHS, doctors warn, as recent spending cuts mean there is little likelihood of the Audlem Medical Practice being expanded in the near to medium term.
As the online date for Gladman2 comments passed it appears very few have responded to a Parish Council plea for residents to restate their objections to the new scheme.
Although comments on Gladman1 have been copied over onto Gladman2 it is not at all sure that the transferred objections will be accepted should the Gladman2 proposals eventually go to appeal.
Residents still have time to restate their objections by post or email before Cheshire East's Strategic Planning Board meets on November 6th to consider the duplicate application. Details are below:
