The AGM of the Audlem Lass Boat Service was held yesterday at the Bridge Inn.

Last season

Chairman Rod Cottrell reported that in spite of horrendous weather, passenger numbers and takings were slightly up on the first year of operation – the biggest proportional increases in traffic were for dogs (up 85%) and pushchairs (up 66%). He thanked everyone involved for their tremendous efforts over the season.

Janet Maughan of Overwater Marina said how popular the service has become with the Marina users. The Safety Afloat Day at the Marina last year was a great success.

The 'Santa' and 'Wish Candles' events at the Big Switch On before Christmas are now a very popular part of the village calendar, especially with children.

The total sum remitted to the RNLI over the year was £2,500 and this still left over £1,000 in the kitty to finance the start of the new season.

The new season

Rod reported that the Lass is now repainted and in pristine condition and can't wait to start the new season on March 29th.

Audlem Narrow Boat Festival

The big event this year at the Marina will be the Audlem Narrow Boat Festival on June 1st and 2nd – we are promised a pet show, a hog roast, a raft race and a 80' by 30' marquee in case the weather is as unfriendly as last year.

And, finally

Rod and the rest of the Committee and Ofiicers were thanked and unanimously voted back into office for another year.
