(The website link that was here no longer works) Peter and Chris Silvester write: "Audlem features several times in the December issues of two canal magazines, just published.

Canals & Rivers has a photo of the canal wharf across two pages on the

contents page, whilst we saw several references in Waterways World. Page 4 gives details of a boat fenders and ropework course at Audlem Mill in mid-December.

"A feature article on "a tour of Britain's most attractive

canalside settlements" (a list of only eight) includes Audlem, with two

photos of the Shroppie Fly and the Mill. The author says that "Audlem

conforms to everyone's idea of an idyllic waterside village", and he goes on

to say that Audlem Wharf is one of the most attractive mooring places on the

entire (canal) network. "There are two pubs here, including the Shroppie

Fly which was once a warehouse, but pride of place goes to the three-storey

Kingbur Mill, converted into a canal shop in 1976. At the foot of the

flight (of locks) stood the stable block, now the base of the Daystar

Theatre Group."

The magazines are available from Audlem Mill, currently open at weekends.
