Audlem in Bloom is a subcommittee of ADAS and looks after all the community planting throughout Audlem. This includes not just the seasonal planting in hanging baskets, tubs and troughs but also the mature beds throughout the village.

With donations from local businesses, Audlem Parish Council and through the ADAS envelope subscriptions, Audlem in Bloom spends around £3000 per year on plants and bulbs. ADAS also enters Audlem into the North West in Bloom competition each year and we regularly win awards. The Britain in Bloom competitions are run by the RHS and this year is the 50th Anniversary.

This year for the first time we have planted Autumn/Winter pansies to give colour throughout the winter months, and they have given colour to the village now the Christmas trees have been taken down.

Another first for Audlem in Bloom was getting the local Brownies and Cubs involved in the Autumn/Winter/Spring planting. We had lots of fun planting pansies and then bulbs throughout the village and we look forward to inviting them back to help with the Spring/Summer displays.

Audlem in Bloom only survives due to the kind donations it receives and the hard work of volunteers. As we all know 'many hands make light work' and therefore Audlem in Bloom is looking to the Villagers of Audlem for new volunteers. Would you like to help? You would only need to give one or two weekends a year to dig out old plants and compost and then help with the planting of new seasonal plants. If you would like to be added to the volunteer contact list then please contact Bryony Nixon on adascontact@gmail.com or 811705.
