Right up to Friday I was
able to crow that we , one of the few with a pitch still playable , we're all set to play our game.
Our opponents were set as Nantwich Young Farmers . A strong team with some very hard players, the most volatile of them out of the reckoning , having been banned for abusive behaviour to the referee.Which was a relief .
But – The constant rain on Saturday beat us!
Beaten by the tail end of Storm Desmond.
( Somehow "Dangerous Desmond" does not have
the ring of so fierce an element. Cannot see such a name in the Super Heroes
team!)
The pitch is far too soft to permit a decent game . And add to that
we also have a home tie next Sunday , the 20th as our last game of the year.
Better to try to let the pitch recover.
Sad too for we had a goodly number of players willing to turn out giving
manager Geoff Stretch the happy task of an easier team selection .
So we did not lose – Nor did we win.
Who knows what may have been?
